Kpal Privacy Policy

Kpal is a calorie and food‑cost tracker. This policy explains what we collect, why, and the choices you have. We keep it simple: we only collect what the app needs to work, and we never sell your data.

Information we collect

• Account information. Your email address, and a password that is stored only as a securely hashed value (we never store it in plain text). If you sign in with Apple or Google, we receive your email address to create and identify your account.
• App data you create. The meals, foods, recipes, pantry items and prices, calorie goals, and time zone you enter. This is stored in your account so it can sync across your devices.
• Calories burned (optional). Kpal can fill in your calories burned from Apple Health. This is optional and off until you turn it on. If you turn on Sync Active Energy automatically, Kpal reads only the Active Energy daily totals for the past week from Apple Health on your device, and only while that setting is on. Only those daily totals are saved to your entries. Kpal reads no other Health data, never writes to Apple Health, and never uses Health data for advertising or shares it with third parties. Turning the setting off stops all further reading. You can also type the number in yourself.

Photos and AI analysis

When you choose to use a photo or text AI estimate, the image or food description is sent to OpenAI to estimate nutrition and cost. This only happens when you take that action. The results are estimates until you verify them. Your data is not used to train AI models.

How your data is stored

Your data is stored using Microsoft Azure and is sent over an encrypted HTTPS connection. Photos are processed to produce an estimate and are not stored by us beyond the entry you save.

What we do not do

• No ads and no advertising trackers.
• No selling or renting of your personal data.
• No use of Apple Health data for advertising, marketing, or sale to any third party.
• No third‑party analytics profiling you across other apps or sites.

Your choices and deletion

You can permanently delete your account and all associated cloud data at any time from Settings → “Delete account and cloud data” inside the app. Deletion is immediate and irreversible. You may also email us to request deletion.

Children

Kpal is not directed to children under 13 (or the minimum age required in your region), and we do not knowingly collect data from them.

Changes to this policy

We may update this policy from time to time. Material changes will be reflected by the “Last updated” date above.
